When a boiler busts, it can be days before you have access to warm water. Even with proper maintained, a boiler can break down at any time, for a variety of different reasons. Here are a few signs that may indicate that you need to start looking for new residential boilers.
It’s Old
If your last new boiler installation was over 20 years ago, it’s likely time to think about replacing it. Older residential boilers are typically less efficient, which can lead to high utility bill costs. This is due to a build-up of sediment and grime, along with outdated features. Replacing your boiler may cost you more money in the short term, but it will likely pay for itself in utility savings.
Fluctuating Temperatures
If your water temperature or pressure have been fluctuating, it’s a good sign that your boiler is on it’s last legs. This includes water that is too hot, too cold, or is unable to keep a steady temperature.
Strange Noises
Strange noises coming from your boiler, such as popping knocking, or hissing sounds, may be a sign that you need replacement. These noises are likely an indication that your boiler is having difficulty distributing water evenly. This causes vibrations in the boiler when the water is being heated.
Cracks and Leaks
Water leaks can result in serious damage, and can create other complications that can cost you hundreds in home repair. This can be a sign of larger problems inside your boiler. While some boiler leaks can be repaired, extensive or frequent leaking is likely a sign that you need to install a new one.
